About Mars

By: Chicken Wollocot

Mars is the fourth planet from the sun, and is also the second smallest planet in the solar system. It has a thin atmosphere made up of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and argon. Scientists know that there used to be lots of water on Mars' surface, but all that is left now is some icy dirt, thin clouds, and sometimes, on hillsides, salty liquid water in the ground.

This planet is small and rocky, and doesn't have an active surface. All of its volcanoes are dead. Mars has two moons, Phobos and Deimos. In Greek Mythology, Deimos is the god of terror and dread, while Phobos is the god of panic and flight/escape.

If you've read the about us page, you would know that I am from Mars! It's kinda a depressing place to live, but peaceful at the same time. If the information above got you interested about Mars, that's great! NASA is a great website that I would recommend for finding more information about planets in the solar system (and outside of it)!
